Bringing the Island to Miami
The Underwater AV Experience (the main attraction)
The biggest visual swing (the part everyone remembered) was the full “under the sea” setup. Attendees walked in and were instantly greeted by an ensemble of LED walls running a deep underwater scene. The content wasn’t just pretty, it was Tailored.
A giant 3D whale slowly swam in and out of the LED environment, using depth-of-field blurring so it felt like it was actually coming out of the screens. It was one of those moments where people stop mid-step and just pull out their phones to record.
We built a large LED backdrop for the center stage, then extended the look with five matching LED towers that were unified into a single video canvas. In the middle of those towers was a round cylinder bar wrapped in flexible LED tiles—and since that’s where the drinks were served, it became a key part of the experience instead of just “a bar in front of the screens.” The LED counter/bar was also synchronized with the full composition, which pushed the immersion even further.
To finish the illusion, everything sat on a shiny, mirror-finish reflective floor that was intentionally wrinkled. That wrinkle detail was clutch—it made the reflections ripple and shimmer like moving water, so the room itself felt alive.
A quick nod to last year
And for anyone who caught last year’s version: they also went big with immersive LED—there was a large curved LED wall running scenes of the island (mountains, city, beach), set up so guests could stand in the middle and grab selfies that actually felt like they were there in person.
We recently built an event in Miami for the Minister of Commerce of the Dominican Republic, as part of their ongoing mission to boost tourism and bring more international attention (and investment) to the island. Over the last couple years, they’ve been touring different places and basically “bringing the DR with them”—a mix of culture, food, music, and a polished press-style rollout that highlights real progress with new partnerships.
The event had two sides to it. One side felt like a cultural showcase (like, party in the back) Dominican drinks, food, music, and guests mixing like it was a mini street festival. (and Business in the front) The other side was more official: a press-style program with coverage, announcements, and the kind of “big moment” stuff that comes with new deals (companies and airlines to help get more tourists to the island).
Live production + the vibe switch
On the production side, we provided all the AV needed to make it run clean: live audio, microphones, speakers, digital mixers, video switching, and all the connections in between. Once the official stuff wrapped—contracts signed, ribbons cut, and all hands shaken… not stirred—a live DJ plugged into the system and the whole room flipped from corporate press event to straight-up dance hall without missing a beat for the eveneings.
